Who He Is

Promising excellence in everything he does

Oh wow... you're still here?

Okay, I guess I should probably tell you a little about myself. I'll try to stay humble, but if you've made it this far, you're either genuinely interested or avoiding work. Either way, welcome.

Ever since I was young, I've loved playing with hair. In fact, one of my first clients was my cousin. Armed with a pair of kitchen scissors and an unreasonable amount of confidence, I gave her what can only be described as a Dora the Explorer haircut.

To be fair, she didn't stay still.

I started modeling in my early teens and quickly became fascinated by everything happening behind the scenes. While everyone else was focused on calorie counts and looking fabulous, I was watching the hairstylists, makeup artists, and creative teams work their magic and thinking, "That looks way more fun."

At 16, I started working in a salon and discovered people would actually pay me to do this. After a year of university (books really weren't my strong suit), I packed up and travelled to the far-off land of Calgary to fully embrace a career in hair.

And because my modeling career wasn't exactly taking off. I know, shocking.

And let's be honest, sugar daddies were pretty hard to come by in Saskatchewan.

What started as a job quickly turned into a passion and eventually a career that's taken me all over the place. Over the years I've had the opportunity to work in some amazing salons, train with some of the biggest names in the industry, and learn from incredible artists from around the world.

I've trained with Aveda, Vidal Sassoon, Kevin Murphy, J Beverly Hills, Redken, Living Proof, and many other professional brands. Somehow (and honestly, I still have no idea how), I became a Brand Manager and Educator for Kevin Murphy Western Canada and later an Educator for J Beverly Hills. Apparently all those years of talking about hair eventually qualified me to teach other people about it.

Over the years I've worked with models, photographers, makeup artists, stylists, educators, and even a few D-list celebrities. I've worked in Los Angeles, traveled across Canada, worked on runway shows, fashion events, photoshoots, and had my work published in magazines and campaigns throughout Canada, Europe, Asia, and beyond.

Looking back, it's kind of crazy where this career has taken me. One day you're sweeping hair off the floor, and the next you're traveling across the country teaching classes and working with brands you've admired for years.

Not bad for a kid who started out playing with hair.

The funny thing is, after all the travel, runway shows, magazine features, photoshoots, publications, education, and fancy industry titles, my favorite part of this career has never changed.

Making people feel good about themselves.

Making them laugh with a terrible dad joke.

And the tips.

And occasionally knowing enough gossip to qualify for my own reality show.

And with all my years in the beauty industry, I've only been banned from two salons.

That's a pretty good record, if you ask me.

The stories behind those bans are much longer, significantly less professional, and may or may not be sealed by the courts.

Not bad for a small-town Saskatchewan kid who started out giving family members questionable haircuts with kitchen scissors and somehow turned it into a career.
